contributed to this report Published March 17, 2006 Asbestos was discovered more than a month ago in the main corridor of a middle school in Calumet Park and still has not been removed, prompting state officials to investigate what they say is a potential health hazard.

Doris Hope-Jackson said she was notified Feb.

14 that asbestos was found after a water pipe leak in one of the school's main hallways.

She said she informed the State Board of Education immediately but declined to comment further, referring questions to school board President William Connor.

He would only say that there was no problem with the asbestos....

Le Compte died last year from asbestos related cancer and Brennan spoke of Le Compte’s influence in Australia Rowing’s press release.“He shaped my rowing career completely, so I owe him a lot,” said Brennan.

A retired FDNY paramedic died Wednesday from cancer that her doctor and family insist was linked to her work at the World Trade Center morgue after the 9/11 attacks.

Debbie Reeve, 41, died at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx after mesothelioma, a rare form of cancer in her lungs, ravaged her body, leaving her emaciated and unable to walk, her loved ones said yesterday.

Reeve, a Bronx mother of two who worked at the Ground Zero morgue for several months, developed the cancer after being exposed to asbestos thrown into the air by the collapsing twin towers, her family and doctor contend.

"The only risk factor she has for developing this cancer at such a young age is her exposure to asbestos and other unknown carcinogens while working at the former World Trade Center site," her doctor, Reynaldo Alonso, wrote in a letter last June.

"It is reasonable to state that her exposure at Ground Zero was the cause of her cancer." Her grieving husband, David Reeve, 45, also an FDNY paramedic, called his wife "the strongest person I've ever met." "That's why I married her.
