Around 50 or 60 members of the Cheshire Asbestos Victims Support Group, based in Fryer Street, Runcorn, and families of victims suffering from the asbestos-related cancer, made the trip to London for the three-day hearing starting on Tuesday.

The House of Lords is the last court of appeal for the case of Sylvia Barker, whose husband Vernon died of mesothelioma after being exposed to asbestos at work, and could affect the compensation claims given to the 1,800 cases of the disease that are diagnosed every year.
