More people die of lung cancer than of colon, breast and prostate cancers combined.

Lung cancer is fairly rare in people under the age of 40.

The average age of people found to have lung cancer is 70.

This year, there will be about 174,470 new cases of lung cancer in the United States: 92,700 among men and 81,770 among women.

About 162,460 people will die of this disease: 90,330 men and 72,130 women.

About six out of 10 people with lung cancer die within one year of finding out they have lung cancer.
